Dedicated to open water swim and triathlon supplies!

The MarkerBuoys founders are directly involved in running and managing the Nanticoke River Swim and Triathlon each May. The Nanticoke River Swim and Tri consists of two events, a sprint triathlon and a 3 mile swim, on the Maryland Eastern Shore.

How it all began.

In the fall of 2007 a group of friends from the Dogfish USMS swim team were looking for a way to raise money for their friend who was suffering from ALS. Two ideas had been proposed, a sprint triathlon and a three mile open water swim. The group has strong ties in the local triathlon community as well as the swimming community. They decided to run a duel event, a sprint triathlon and three mile swim. The location for the event would be in BiValve, MD on the Nanticoke River.

While planning the events, it was very difficult to find the supplies for the events as well as directions for bringing it all together. The search for supplies and instructions were found all over the internet. Most of the information was consistent, but it took a long time to find the information and supplies. The founders of this site decided to bring together one central location to order all the supplies needed to run an open water swim or triathlon and to provide information for those planning these types of events.

The Nanticoke River Swim and Tri is a successful event today an is part of the Eastern Shore Tri Series. If you are ever on the Eastern Shore of Maryland the first weekend on May, come join us!
